MISTPS

The club which helped me to upgrade my photography game!

I always had a goal before starting my undergraduate studies that besides my coursework, I will engage myself in club works to develop my extra curricular skills. In June, 2017, I bought my first DSLR camera to start practicing my photography skills. But I was not getting real life events where I can really hone my skills through practical challenges, covering an event, post-processing the images and distributing them among people. MIST Photographic Society provided me this opportunity. Besides that I was able to connect with seniors and batchmates of outside my department which also helped to socialize outside my circle, assisting me to set-up networks.

Club Experience

Executive (June 1, 2017 – December 31, 2018)

I joined the club during my 2nd semester, around June, 2017. I started my journey as an executive. As an executive, I used to cover different events of my campus under the supervision of my senior club members. They used to guide me on which angles to cover and also on the various etiquettes of an event cover.

Head of Photography Team (January 1, 2019 – December 31, 2019)

At the start of 2019, a new team was formed by the club which will exclusively cover the official events of the campus. The team was formed of members who had been on that line of work for last 2 years. For my active presence and sheer excellence on covering events of the campus, I was elected as the leader of that team. As the head of that team,

  1. I recruited and mentored a set of new members of the club at the start of 2019.
  2. Co-ordinated the team and arranged meetings with the officials to discuss about the team’s coverage of the specific event.
  3. Hosted mini workshops for the team to share my past two years of experience on this sector.
  4. Covered all the official campus events of 2019.
General Secretary (January 1, 2020 – April 15, 2021)

As one of the club’s most senior members at my senior year, I got promoted to General Secretary (GS) position. As GS,

  1. Conducted a workshop on fundamentals of photography for the beginners.
  2. Arranged a photo walk at Puran Dhaka with all of the club members.
  3. Conducted a national exhibition where a set of selected photographs by photographers from all around the country were exhibited.

Club Activities

Covering Graduation Ceremonies

Graduation ceremony is one the most important and touchy events to cover as it is a day awaited by many of our seniors. They get their award, recognition as an engineer and their prestigious degree at this day. Also, it is their official last day at the campus. So, I used to give my best to cover the most of the events and later, to distribute the captured pictures among my seniors.
